Hard & soft contact lenses

We may be called Groovy ‘Glasses’, but we specialise in contact lenses, too! We deal with most lens types, and have built a reputation for being patient and thorough.

Contact lenses are a popular choice for correcting vision problems and It is also a convenient alternative to glasses, offering greater freedom and flexibility for sports, work, and social activities. These small, thin lenses sit directly on the surface of the eye, providing a clear and natural-looking vision. They are available in a wide range of prescriptions, and can be used to correct a variety of vision problems, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia.

  • Types of contact lenses

There are two main types: soft lenses and rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses. Soft lenses are the most common, and they are made from a flexible, water-absorbing material that conforms to the shape of the eye.

    • Soft lenses are comfortable and easy to wear, and they are available in daily, weekly, and monthly disposable options.
    • RGP lenses, on the other hand, are made from a rigid, oxygen-permeable material that allows for better oxygen flow to the cornea. RGP lenses provide sharper vision, and are more durable and resistant to bacteria and deposits.
  • Fitting & care

A contact lens fitting is a special exam that measures the curvature and size of your eyes, and helps our optometrists determine the right type of contact lens for you.

We will also provide instructions on how to insert, remove, and care for your lenses because proper contact lens care is essential for maintaining good eye health and preventing eye infections.

Always follow the instructions for cleaning and storing your contact lenses, and avoid wearing them for longer than recommended.
